The two-wheeler sector has been quite active this month thanks to the launch of new and updated products like cruisers, superbikes, scooters and neo-retro motorcycles. Honda, for instance, has entered the retro segment with the hotly anticipated H'Ness CB350 while BMW has stepped up the game in the litre-class segment by launching the notorious M 1000 RR overseas. There’s a lot of catching up to do, so here’s a summary of all of the new launches that took place in India and overseas in September 2020.   Honda CB350 H'Ness To Take The Fight To The Royal Enfield Classic 350 A bold statement, isn’t it! But it’s true. Honda’s foray into the 350cc retro segment can only be viewed as a blatant challenge to Royal Enfield and the Classic 350. For this, the CB350 features a neo-retro design, several segment-first features, a powerful 350cc motor, and of course Honda’s reliability quotient and comprehensive service network. Triumph Trident More Details Revealed

Watch Video Review   Triumph has announced that its upcoming Trident is in the final stages of testing and released more details and images of the upcoming streetfighter. The new motorcycle will be positioned below Triumph’s Street Triple range. It is slated for an early-2021 launch overseas.  From the released images, it is apparent that the upcoming streetfighter is a very compact motorcycle. The neo-retro styled front end is reminiscent of the larger Speed Twin, while the rest of the fuel tank and bodywork draws inspiration from the Street Triple. Feature-wise, the new motorcycle gets a digital instrument console and all-LED lighting.  Triumph has revealed that the upcoming motorcycle will feature a triple-cylinder motor similar to the Street Triple range. It is, however, expected to have a comparatively smaller engine capacity in the range of 600cc to 675cc. Power output is expected to be around 80-85PS. According to Triumph, the Trident's motor will have a “perfec

Honda HNess CB350 Top 5 Highlights

Honda has been labouring away behind the scenes to build a strong base in the lucrative mid-capacity retro segment in India. The first bike to pave the way for the Japanese brand in the neo-retro segment is the Honda H'Ness CB350 . It'll go up against the mighty Royal Enfield Classic 350 which has been ruling the segment for over a decade. Quite a challenge, eh? No one said it’d be easy, but the H'Ness comes packed with a couple of segment-first features, a powerful 350cc motor, and of course Honda’s reliability quotient. So here’s everything you need to know about the H'Ness CB350:   Rich CB Legacy The H'Ness CB350 carries forward Honda’s CB design language and even takes design cues from the 1970 CB350 and the CB1100 EX. While the overall silhouette remains pretty much the same, subtle changes help the H'Ness create its own identity. So you have the 80’s design theme which blends in with modern elements like the full circular LED headlight and t

BS6 BMW G 310 R G 310 GS India Launch Date Revealed

BMW India has confirmed the launch date for the BMW G 310 twins. The BS6 version of BMW’s most affordable bikes in India will debut on October 8. Although the new emission norms came into effect in April 2020, the launch of the BS6 BMW G 310 R and the BMW G 310 GS was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Bookings for both the BMW bikes had already commenced in August.  Teaser images indicate BMW will not just be updating both bikes with a BS6 powerplant but also LED headlights. The BS6 BMW G 310 R and the G 310 GS are also likely to be offered in new colour options to differentiate themselves from their predecessor.  The TVS Apache RR 310 received the BS6 treatment earlier this year and its power output remained unchanged despite the transition. The liquid-cooled single-cylinder motor is rated at 34PS and 27.3Nm. We are hopeful that even the BMW engines will make the transition without any power loss.  While most two-wheelers have witnessed a price hike with the BS6 update

Honda CB350 HNess Launched Will Rival Royal Enfield Classic 350 And Meteor 350

The new Honda will be sold through the company’s Big Wing dealerships. It is powered by a new 348cc single-cylinder long-stroke engine. Has modern elements to it as well like LED headlight, alloy wheels and smartphone connectivity-enabled Bluetooth cluster. After teasing and tempting us for a while, Honda has finally ridden in its Highness to India and no, as silly as it sounds, it's not called the Honda Highness. It is in fact called the CB350 HNess, carrying forward the legacy of the CB roadster series from yesteryears. Prices of the CB350 are likely to be around Rs 1.90 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), which would make it dearer than the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and the Jawa by quite some margin. The design evokes the same old school Honda CB roadster vibes, just like the CB1100 EX used to a few years ago. The silhouette remains more or less the same as the larger CB. On certain colour models, you get a brown leather seat, which ups the nostalgic quotient of the motorcycle. B

Ather 450X Series1 Image Gallery

Ather Energy  recently launched a special collector’s edition scooter called the Ather 450X Series1 for those who pre-ordered the electric scooter even before knowing any technical aspects of it back in January. The changes made to this special edition scooter is limited to aesthetics, and it doesn’t carry a premium over the standard variant either. Check out its detailed images below. The Ather 450X Series1 is quite a looker thanks to the black colour scheme with red highlights. It looks a lot more stealthy compared to the regular version but also manages to stand apart with its exclusive livery. The deliveries of this scooter will commence from November. The red racing stripes are minimalistic and it runs across the scooter’s apron panels. It also gets a red Ather logo on the side panels at the rear. The scooter comes in a unique black paint finish, which Ather calls “high-gloss metallic black”. To match the scooter’s exclusivity, it also gets a slightly customised User In

Hero MotoCorp Might Handle Harley-Davidsons India Operations

After a tumultuous 2020, Harley-Davidson might get a little respite with its proposed alliance with Hero MotoCorp. The two manufacturers are likely to strike up a partnership to handle Harley’s Indian operations henceforth. That means all 33 Harley-Davidson dealers in the country will now be taken care of by Hero. What about manufacturing, you ask? The details on that still seem a little sketchy but don’t rule out Hero expanding one of its facilities to accommodate Harley-Davidson’s CKD business. As of now, Harley has pulled out of the manufacturing side of things in India, thus bringing an end to the Street 750 and Street Rod . The Street 750 was being sold at heavy discounts in the past few months as Harley-Davdison was looking to clear off the remaining stock of bikes. As tempting as it sounds, to manage the iconic American brand in India, Hero will have its work cut out for itself. This is the first time it will partner up with a company that primarily focuses on premium moto

Ducati Multistrada V4 Launch On October 15

The engine is derived from the 1,103cc V4 unit in the Ducati Panigale V4. It gets a new frame and swingarm. Expect the ADV to be priced from around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). Ducati has sent out a teaser hinting at the arrival of the highly anticipated Ducati Multistrada V4 on October 15. The teaser states, “4 is lighter than 2. It can also be more compact.” Even Ducati’s CEO Claudio Domenicali had earlier confirmed that the Multistrada V4 is inbound. Moreover, we’ve already seen test mules of the Multistrada V4 that seem to be almost ready for production , so it’s no wonder that the upcoming bike will be the ADV. The tagline hints at the possibility of Ducati managing to shave off the weight of the Multistrada despite packing two extra cylinders. Going by the spy shots leaked earlier, the motorcycle packs a new trellis frame linked to a trellis subframe, and a new swingarm design to handle the extra power and torque from the engine. Nestling inside the frame is likely to be a d

Honda HNess Cruiser India Launch Tomorrow

Honda is all set to launch its first small-capacity retro motorcycle tomorrow. The recent trademark images suggest that the upcoming motorcycle might be called H’Ness, and cost around Rs 1.95 lakh (ex-showroom). There were rumours about the upcoming bike being the Honda Rebel 300. However, going by the recently-released teaser of the exhaust note , it is likely to pack an old-school air-cooled long-stroke fuel-injected motor displacing somewhere around 350-400cc. That’s a complete departure from the single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine in the Rebel. Expect plenty of low-end torque accompanied by the traditional Honda-levels of refinement in the upcoming bike.  For representation The Honda H'Ness is expected to come with the same roadster-like design language as the Honda CB1100 EX. It is likely to feature a traditional front fork, twin rear shock absorbers and disc brake on both ends with ABS as standard. For an added retro appeal, expect it to use spoke wheels with tubed

Mahindra-owned Peugeot Motocycles Launches Django 125 210th Anniversary Edition

Back at home, we’re still waiting for the Mahindra Mojo BS6 to arrive, and we’re still waiting to actually spot a Jawa Perak out on the road. But overseas, Mahindra ’s other subsidiary Peugeot Motocycles has just rolled out the stylish and patriotic Django 125 210th Anniversary Edition. If you, like me, are moderately knowledgeable and know how to count, then you, like me, are probably pretty confused because motorised transport didn’t exist 210 years ago, so neither did Peugeot Motocycles. But the family business that preceded the current Peugeot company was founded in 1810 to manufacture coffee mills and bicycles. It’s this anniversary that this scooter is celebrating. Aprilia Tuareg 660 Spotted Testing In The Flesh

With the RS 660 now on sale overseas, Aprilia is now working on introducing the Tuono 660. The engine is derived from the front bank of the RSV4’s 1100cc V4 engine. The production-ready version of the Tuareg 660 should be ready by end-2021. Packed inside a box densely with shrubbery and vegetation of all kinds, it’s likely that most attendees apart from the eagle-eyed once at EIMCA 2019 missed catching a glimpse of the Aprilia Tuareg 660 concept . Yes, Aprilia is bringing back the Tuareg name for its adventure motorcycle series. Nearly a year since EICMA, the Italian middleweight ADV has been spotted testing in Europe. Although details remain pretty scarce, the spy shot showcases a very purposeful design, pretty much like a Yamaha Tenere 700 or even a Honda Africa Twin. It looks like a large enduro motorcycle with wire spoke rims at both ends, a high rise handlebar, a short windshield and an extremely high upswept exhaust. The end-can seems rather large, a bit too large for
