Upcoming Two-wheeler Launches In September 2020

As the Indian motorcycle industry gradually bounces back from the COVID-19 pandemic, we’re slowly starting to see more and more bikes and scooters being launched. The month of August saw quite a few interesting and important launches, and you can check them out here. Now, we turn our attention forwards and bring you all the two-wheeler launches expected in September:
Royal Enfield Meteor 350

Yes, yes, we know. We’ve been putting this bike on every such list since pretty much June. But this time, we have good reason to believe the Meteor really will launch this month. We’ve come across leaked brochure images of the bike showing how many variants and colours will be on offer. The presence of a finalised brochure from the manufacturer indicates the bike will be launched very soon.
Hero XPulse 200T, Xtreme 200S

Hero already updated the popular XPulse 200 to comply with the latest emission norms some time ago. Since its cousins, the XPulse 200T and Xtreme 200S, are powered by the same 200cc engine, we expect them to become BS6-compliant quite soon as well, perhaps in September itself.
Aprilia SXR 160

This sexy-looking scooter was supposed to be launched in August, according to statements made by Piaggio at the time of its unveiling in February, but obviously, the lockdown threw a spanner in the works causing a delay. Nevertheless, we hope to see the SXR 160 hit showrooms this month.
BMW G 310 Twins

This one's a bit of a no-brainer. We've already seen the bikes testing in India and BMW has even officially opened bookings, so a launch for the G 310 R and G 310 GS is just around the corner. In addition to gaining cleaner-burning motors, we expect them to be endowed with updates like LED lighting, ride-by-wire technology, and perhaps even updated instrumentation.
TVS Victor BS6

Victor headlampMost of TVS' lineup has already been upgraded to comply with BS6 emission norms, but the Victor still remains. We suspect this is because the Victor isn't going to be a simple fuel-injection update but rather it will grow in displacement from 110cc to 125cc. We hope to see TVS' re-entry into the 125cc commuter segment sometime this month.
Suzuki V-Strom 650XT

As we slide further up the displacement scale, we come to TVS' former partner Suzuki and its V-Strom 650XT which is long overdue an emissions update. The bike was shown in BS6-compliant form way back in February at the Expo and has been listed as ‘Coming Soon’ on Suzuki's website for many a month now. We hope September will finally bring an end to our wait.
Honda CBR1000RR-R

2020 HONDA CBR1000RR-R SPHaving got the Hornet 2.0 out of the way, Honda can now turn all its attention to the big daddy, its flagship litre-class superbike. The CBR1000RR-R is on the verge of an India launch and we expect it to arrive on our shores sometime in the next few weeks. For a crash course in how to make the BMW S 1000 RR seem like excellent value for money, check out the incoming Fireblade's pricing here.
BMW R 18

Though probably not quite as expensive as the Blade, another premium and globally revered bike that will debut in India this month is the grand BMW R 18 cruiser, complete with the largest air-cooled boxer twin engine that the Bavarian brand has ever made. We expect a price tag in the range of Rs 20 lakh to Rs 22 lakh.
Ducati Multistrada 950

Ducati Multistrada 950
August saw Ducati bring in its first BS6-compliant bike in the form of the sexy but expensive Panigale V2, and we expect September to be the month when the second one arrives. The model in question is most likely the Multistrada 950, which should arrive at a price point of around Rs 13 lakh.

Breaking Down BS6 Carburettors And Fuel Injection Explained

It’s now been nearly 4 months since BS6 emission norms came into effect, and almost all the bikes and scooters sold in India have been updated to meet the stricter regulations. Most recent among these to receive the updates was the TVS Scooty Zest BS6 , which was launched a couple of days ago at Rs 58,640. Like all the BS6 updates we’ve seen so far, this new version is more expensive than its BS4 predecessor, by around Rs 6,000 in this case. And the biggest reason behind these price hikes is the addition of a fuel-injection system. So what exactly is it? And how did bikes work before fuel-injection came into the picture? Let’s take a look: To understand why a fuel-injection (FI) system is needed, we first need to understand its predecessor: the carburettor. Both FI and carburettors do the same job: mixing air and fuel in the correct proportions before it’s sent into the engine. The diagram above shows a carburettor’s layout. Air enters at the top, flows through a narrow con...

Royal Enfield Classic 350 ABS Launched At Rs 161 lakh

Rumours of an ABS-equipped Royal Enfield have been doing rounds for quite some time with many stating that the entire range would get only single-channel ABS, barring the Royal Enfield Himalayan, the upcoming Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 . However, all those rumours have been slammed by the heritage classic bike manufacturer. As exclusively reported by us earlier , Royal Enfield has launched its highest selling model, the Classic 350 , with dual-channel ABS in India today at Rs 1.61 lakh (ex-showroom Pune). The new variant is called the Classic Signals 350 and is inspired by the Indian Army Corps of Signals, which is a division that oversees military communications. Apart from the safety net and the 240mm rear disc, the company is also offering this variant in two new colour schemes - Airborne Blue and Stormrider Sand. The instrument cluster now features a low fuel light and an ABS light instead of the ammeter that's offered on the standard Classic 350. The serial...

Honda HNess CB350 Same Price Other Options

Watch Video Review     Honda has finally entered the retro segment dominated by Royal Enfield with its very own offering, the H’Ness CB350 . Expected to be priced at approximately Rs 1.90 lakh, the roadster has a lot going for it and is already creating waves in the two-wheeler industry. But if you still feel the CB350 isn’t the bike for you, you could have a look at the following options around the same price bracket.    Royal Enfield Classic 350 Stealth Black: Rs 1,86,319 Royal Enfield enthusiasts could stick to the bike that has pretty much been the backbone for the brand. Sure, the Classic 350 isn’t as powerful as the CB350, or as feature-rich, or as err… reliable, but it still has the thump -- if that’s what you’re looking for. Also, without all the fancy gizmos it’s as pure as pure can get -- a classic retro motorcycle!    Husqvarna Svartpilen, Vitpilen 250: Rs 1,84,768 The Swedes, on the other hand, have a different take on “neo-...
