Upcoming All-New Royal Enfield Hunter Motorcycle Spotted With The Meteor Launch Soon

  • The motorcycle has a retro design similar to the Classic 350 BS6.
  • It appears to be using Royal Enfield’s new J-platform.
  • It could share its all-new motor with the upcoming Meteor.
  • Royal Enfield could unveil the Hunter, Meteor, Roadster and Sherpa later this year.

Royal Enfield has been working on upgrading its motorcycle lineup. A fleet of the bikemaker’s new test mules was spotted testing in Chennai along with a couple of 650cc twins, the upcoming all-new Meteor and Roadster. Among the pack was an all-new retro motorcycle designed as the Classic 350. However, we do not believe this would be a replacement for the Classic 350. Since the Classic 350 BS6 has already been launched, the brand could continue selling its best selling motorcycle and offer this new bike as a premium retro alternative.

Royal Enfield Hunter Spotted

Now Royal Enfield has trademarked the names Hunter and Sherpa but we feel it would reserve the later for a more adventurous motorcycle, possibly a higher capacity Himalayan. So what we see could be the upcoming Royal Enfield Hunter. The new motorcycle gets familiar design cues in the form of large mudguards, enclosed telescopic forks, enclosed headlamp cover with chrome bezel and circular headlamp, tail lamp and turn indicators.

Like the Meteor, the upcoming motorcycle appears to use the J-platform. It uses a double-cradle frame with telescopic forks and dual shock absorbers as well as spoke wheels. The test mule had a front disc and rear drum brake setup but Royal Enfield could offer a rear disc brake with dual-channel ABS in the higher variants. It gets an all-new air-cooled motor which we suspect will have a larger displacement than the current 346cc fuel-injected mill on the Classic 350 BS6. The new powerplant may offer more performance than the current Classic 350 BS6’s 19.3PS and 28Nm output and could also get a 6-speed gearbox.

Royal Enfield could showcase its new lineup comprising the Meteor, Sherpa and Hunter later this year. The new bikes are likely to be launched in India by early-2021.

Also read: Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC: First Ride Review   While every other bike manufacturer seems to be coming up with its own vision of what a neo-retro scrambler should look like, the Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC has stuck to its guns by staying as close to the original British scramblers of yore as possible. Also read:  Family Feud: Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC vs Tiger 800 XCx   The minimalist design means that there is little to no bodywork to damage. Breaking Down BS6 Carburettors And Fuel Injection Explained

It’s now been nearly 4 months since BS6 emission norms came into effect, and almost all the bikes and scooters sold in India have been updated to meet the stricter regulations. Most recent among these to receive the updates was the TVS Scooty Zest BS6 , which was launched a couple of days ago at Rs 58,640. Like all the BS6 updates we’ve seen so far, this new version is more expensive than its BS4 predecessor, by around Rs 6,000 in this case. And the biggest reason behind these price hikes is the addition of a fuel-injection system. So what exactly is it? And how did bikes work before fuel-injection came into the picture? Let’s take a look: To understand why a fuel-injection (FI) system is needed, we first need to understand its predecessor: the carburettor. Both FI and carburettors do the same job: mixing air and fuel in the correct proportions before it’s sent into the engine. The diagram above shows a carburettor’s layout. Air enters at the top, flows through a narrow con...
