Hero MotoCorp To Launch XPulse 200 XPulse 200T Tomorrow

  • The Hero XPulse 200 was first showcased at the 2017 EICMA Show.
  • Two variants on offer- road-focused XPulse 200T and off-road oriented XPulse 200.
  • The mysterious fully-faired bike is a faired variant of the Hero Xtreme 200R.

Hero MotoCorp will be launching not one, but three new motorcycles tomorrow. The first two are the company’s entry level adventure tourers - the road-focused XPulse 200T and off-road oriented XPulse 200. Of the two, the XPulse 200 will get long-travel suspension, higher ground clearance and larger spoked wheels (21-inch up front and 18-inch at the rear) wrapped in knobby Ceat Gripp tyres. Additionally, it will also come with a front beak, sump guard, knuckle guards and a high-mounted exhaust for better water-wading capability.

The XPulse 200T, on the other hand, is likely to feature the same suspension setup as the Hero Xtreme 200R along with more urban-focused 17-inch alloy wheels (100/80 - front, 130/70 - rear). Both motorcycles will feature the same set of electronics - a fully-digital instrument console, Bluetooth connectivity, LED lights at both ends and a single-channel ABS system.

Powering both the motorcycles will be the same 200cc air-cooled, fuel-injected engine that generates 18.7PS of power and 17.1Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed transmission. However, the XPulse 200 could be tuned differently considering its off-road orientation.

Both bikes are expected to be priced between Rs 1.1 lakh to Rs 1.20 lakh (ex-showroom). If Hero manages to price the bikes in this range, the XPulse 200 will become the most affordable ADV in India, a spot which is currently held by the Royal Enfield Himalayan (Rs 1.79 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi).

Coming to the mysterious third bike, while details are unknown, we expect it to be a full-faired version of the Xtreme 200R. It could get the Karizma moniker too. We will be present at the launch event at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida tomorrow, so make sure you follow us on our social media channels for the latest updates.

Breaking Down BS6 Carburettors And Fuel Injection Explained

It’s now been nearly 4 months since BS6 emission norms came into effect, and almost all the bikes and scooters sold in India have been updated to meet the stricter regulations. Most recent among these to receive the updates was the TVS Scooty Zest BS6 , which was launched a couple of days ago at Rs 58,640. Like all the BS6 updates we’ve seen so far, this new version is more expensive than its BS4 predecessor, by around Rs 6,000 in this case. And the biggest reason behind these price hikes is the addition of a fuel-injection system. So what exactly is it? And how did bikes work before fuel-injection came into the picture? Let’s take a look: To understand why a fuel-injection (FI) system is needed, we first need to understand its predecessor: the carburettor. Both FI and carburettors do the same job: mixing air and fuel in the correct proportions before it’s sent into the engine. The diagram above shows a carburettor’s layout. Air enters at the top, flows through a narrow con...

TVS Tyres has launched two new range of tyres for scooters - Jumbo-XT and the Pancer-II. Both will be available in 90/100 -10 sizes across the country. While the Jumbo-XT is priced at Rs 951, the Pancer-II costs Rs 987. The company claims the Jumbo-XT's bold and rugged block type pattern helps it in providing excellent grip on both wet and dry surfaces. Its parallel groove design helps in draining water efficiently. The Pancer-II, on the other hand, features an aligned block type design with groove channels. This helps it in providing improved stability, while also providing good grip in wet and dry conditions. TVS tyres also claims that the Pacner-II helps in improving the overall mileage as well. We'll certainly put these claims to the test once the review units arrive.   Speaking on th...

BMW Motorrad Showcases Radical Electric Vision DC Roadster

The Vision DC Roadster takes the brands iconic 2-cylinder boxer engine design and gives it a rather interesting twist.  The design was inspired by the BMW R 32 developed by Max Friz in 1923. BMW has also designed a two-piece functional suit that looks like a casual jacket and black trousers. BMW Motorrad is no newcomer to electric vehicles. We’ve already seen the brands Vision Next 100 concept which gave a glimpse of the company’s future vision. Now though, BMW intends to change our outlook on electric two-wheelers which are more often than not perceived as boring. And they plan on doing so with the Vision DC Roadster, an all-electric bike that gives the word unconventional a whole new meaning. The design team started off by taking its iconic 2-cylinder boxer engine and giving it a rather interesting twist. The idea was to retain its protruding design but incorporate it in an electric motor. The challenge was its packaging. You see, in an IC engine, the size of the motor ...
