KTM 250 Duke ABS
The final piece of the jigsaw puzzle has been completed as KTM has launched the 250 Duke ABS at Rs 1.94 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The addition of dual-channel ABS comes at a premium of Rs 14,000 over the non-ABS version. It gets switchable ABS like the previous generation of the 390 Duke. That means, one can either have it fully on or switch it off completely, there’s no ‘Supermoto’ mode like the new 390.

The 250 was meant to be an ideal mid-gap between the 200 and 390 Dukes. Styling similarities can be drawn with the 390. It is powered by a 248.8cc liquid-cooled engine which makes 30PS and 24Nm. This motor has been derived from the 390 and comes mated to a 6-speed transmission here.

With the addition of the tech, the 250 Duke is almost at par with the Honda CBR250R ABS now, in terms of pricing. But, it is still pricier than Yamaha’s FZ25 which retails for Rs 1.33 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Non-ABS models will continue to be on sale until March 31.

Breaking Down BS6 Carburettors And Fuel Injection Explained

It’s now been nearly 4 months since BS6 emission norms came into effect, and almost all the bikes and scooters sold in India have been updated to meet the stricter regulations. Most recent among these to receive the updates was the TVS Scooty Zest BS6 , which was launched a couple of days ago at Rs 58,640. Like all the BS6 updates we’ve seen so far, this new version is more expensive than its BS4 predecessor, by around Rs 6,000 in this case. And the biggest reason behind these price hikes is the addition of a fuel-injection system. So what exactly is it? And how did bikes work before fuel-injection came into the picture? Let’s take a look: To understand why a fuel-injection (FI) system is needed, we first need to understand its predecessor: the carburettor. Both FI and carburettors do the same job: mixing air and fuel in the correct proportions before it’s sent into the engine. The diagram above shows a carburettor’s layout. Air enters at the top, flows through a narrow con...

The instrument cluster now features a low fuel light and an ABS light instead of the ammeter that's offered on the standard Classic 350. The serial...
